फिनल्यान्डको एस्पो शहरले समरको अन्त्यलाई उत्सवमय बनाउन आफ्नो वार्षिक ‘एस्पो दिवस’ (Espoo Day) भव्यताका साथ मनाउने भएको छ।
यो दुई-दिने महोत्सव अगस्टको अन्तिम सप्ताहन्त अर्थात् आज शुक्रबार २९ र भोली शनिबार ३० अगस्टमा आयोजना हुँदैछ। एस्पो दिवस मनाउन १५० भन्दा बढी नि:शुल्क कार्यक्रमहरू समावेश गरिएका छन्।
यो उत्सव सबैका लागि खुला रहेको एस्पो शहरले जनाएको छ। कार्यक्रमहरू स्थानीय समुदाय, संघसंस्था, कम्पनीहरू र शहरका विभिन्न विभागहरूको सामूहिक प्रयासबाट आयोजना गरिएको हो।
सन् १९९२ मा पहिलो पटक मनाइएको एस्पो दिवस अहिले एस्पोको सबैभन्दा ठूलो वार्षिक सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम बनेको छ।
यस वर्षको उत्सवको नारा ‘जिम्मेवारीपूर्वक सँगै’ (Responsibly Together) रहेको छ। यसले वातावरणीय र सामाजिक चेतनालाई ध्यानमा राख्दै सामूहिक सहभागितामा जोड दिएको छ।
के-के छन् कार्यक्रम?
उत्सवका क्रममा विभिन्न स्थानमा आकर्षक कार्यक्रमहरू हुनेछन्। भान्तिलास्थित एस्पो सिटी गार्डेनमा गार्डेन फेस्टिभल आयोजना हुनेछ। त्यहाँ गीतसंगीत, कार्यशाला र अन्य सामुदायिक गतिविधिहरू हुनेछन्।
शुक्रबार साँझ ९ बजे देखि एस्पोनलाहती चर्चमा सामुहिक विवाहको कार्यक्रम हुनेछ। सङ्गीतदेखि केक र कफीसम्म पहिल्यै सहरले तैयार गरिदिएको उक्त ठाउँमा धेरै जोडीहरू विवाह बन्धनमा बाँधिने छन्। आफ्नो पार्टनर, दुइवटा परिचयपत्र, विवाहको औठी र विवाहमा बाधा नपर्ने प्रमाणपत्र लिएर जानेले त्यहाँ विवाह गर्न सक्नेछन्।
लेप्पाभारा क्षेत्रमा पनि विभिन्न कार्यक्रमहरू आयोजना गरिएका छन्। भेर्मो एरिनामा राष्ट्रिय स्तरको घोडा दौड प्रतियोगिता ‘हर्सेस इन एस्पो‘ र परम्परागत सडक महोत्सव आयोजना हुनेछ। शनिबार साँझ सेल्लोस्थित भियापोरिनतोरी टेरेसमा गायक सामुली पुट्रोको कन्सर्ट हुनेछ।
लेप्पाभारामै बिग्रेको साइकल बनाउन र साइकल रिपेयर सिक्न समेत सित्तैमा पाइने छ।
आयोजकका अनुसार शनिबार, अगस्ट ३० का दिन आयोजना हुने सबै कार्यक्रमहरू नि:शुल्क र सबैका लागि खुला हुनेछन्। शुक्रबार, अगस्ट २९ का केही कार्यक्रमहरूमा भने शुल्क लाग्न सक्नेछ। कार्यक्रमको पूर्ण तालिका शहरको अनलाइन इभेन्ट क्यालेन्डरमा उपलब्ध छ। शुक्रबारका कार्यक्रमहरू यहाँ छन् भने शनिवारका कार्यक्रमहरू यहाँ छन्।

Friday, August 29th:
• Picnic event 11 AM to 1 PM at Samarianmäki, Terveyskuja 2 b. Socializing, coffee, and some programme. Organized by, among others, Yhteisötalo Espoo, EMY, Mannatalo, the Red Cross, and LUVN.
• Art Exhibition: Siiri Järnefelt – The Gaze of a Young Woman, at the Kauklahti Chapel, Kauppamäki 1. Opening at 5 PM in Kauklahti Chapel before the opening concert of the Radalla festival. The exhibition will be open during the weekend’s concerts.
• “My Happiness Is to Be” – The Most Beautiful Confirmation Camp Songs sing-along concert at 18:00 in Olari Church, Rälssitilankuja 1. Pekka Simojoki and Make Perttilä perform and lead favorite songs from over the years and decades. After the concert, tea will be served, followed by an evening mass at 20:30. This event is in Finnish only.
• A Little Evening Music at Soukka Chapel at 6 PM, Soukankuja 3. Enjoy music in the August evening, featuring compositions and arrangements by Ilkka Ruskeepää. Free admission, voluntary programme fee 10 €, proceeds go to the Common Responsibility Campaign.
• Human to Human – An Evening of Love Songs at 7 PM in Karakappeli Chapel, Karakalliontie 12. Featuring Jiri Kuronen (piano & vocals), Anna Marte (vocals), and Satu Kreivi-Palosaari (recitation). The evening will feature new songs set to love poems, with additional themes of nature and peace. This event is in Finnish.
Saturday, August 30th:
• Leppävaara Parish at Raitti Carnival. The traditional Leppävaara Raitti Carnival and Grand Market will be held from 9 AM to 6 PM at Läkkitori and along Leppävaaranraitti. At the Leppävaara Parish tent, visitors can enjoy various activities in the spirit of Finland’s Nature Day and Espoo Day.
• Ecumenical Procession in Espoo and Kauniainen. Departure at 10 AM from Kauniainen Methodist Church, continuing into Espoo. We walk together a rout of 14 km in total. Bring weather-appropriate clothing, a water bottle, suitable walking shoes, and 5 € in cash for the soup lunch. Route & schedule:
o 10 AM Kauniainen Methodist Church, Yhtiöntie 33 — prayer & coffee, then a 3.8 km walk.
o 11:30 Aurora Chapel, Heiniemenpolku 1 — prayer & soup lunch (5 € cash), then a 1.9 km walk via Träskända Manor and Ingaksen Parsonage (3.4 km).
o 3 PM Oittaa Beach — Orthodox water blessing, then a 4.4 km walk.
o 5 PM Ecumenical Center, Myllyjärventie 9 — Catholic mass, with grilled sausages and corn. Organized by the Ecumenical Committee of Espoo and Kauniainen, Helsinki Orthodox Parish, Kauniainen Methodist Church, Studium Catholicum, and the Lutheran parishes of Espoo and Kauniainen.
• Urban Pilgrimage in Tapiola. Departure at 3 PM from Tapiola Columbarium Garden, Kirkkopolku 4. The walk ends at Tapiola Church for the evening mass at 6 PM. Along the way, there will be short stops and moments of prayer. The route is about 7 km with some uneven terrain. Bring your own water bottle and small snacks.
Effortless Wedding on Espoo Day Evening
On Friday, August 29th from 9 PM onwards at Espoonlahti Church, Kipparinkatu 8, there will be an unforgettable Wedding Night. It’s a romantic and beautiful wedding ceremony where everything is prepared — from music to cake and coffee. Several couples will be married in the same evening. Bring your partner, both IDs, rings, and a certificate of non-impediment to marriage (must be obtained at least seven days before the wedding). Read more about the Wedding Night event.
